John Lloyd
John has 40 years of experience in both the Oil and Gas industries in various roles. He first became involved in the fuel industry through his time in the Australian Defence Force, then moving across to Ampol Petroleum as a driver based at the Newport Terminal in Melbourne. After several years, John decided to move to regional Victoria where he became actively involved in Caltex Distributor operations.

Bonney Energy Victoria Logistics Manager l Sept 2021 – September 2023
As the Logistics Manager, I was responsible for the efficient distribution of refined products to both the Melbourne and regional Victorian markets. Distribution operations were managed from Melbourne Newport terminal and VIVA Corio refinery. Responsibilities included managing the Onsite Refuelling, Linehaul and Ampol Cartage contract fleet operations. Ensuring compliance with both regulatory and legislative requirements for Dangerous Goods road transport operations. This included NHVR Mass Management and Fatigue Management requirements where ongoing compliance was an essential component in maintaining business continuity as a preferred distribution contractor for Ampol Australia.

Responsible for ongoing compliance to the Road Management Act 2004 via the effective allocation of Council staff, plant, equipment and materials to ensure a high standard of delivery of annual works programs and the effective delivery of infrastructure maintenance and capital works. Responsibilities of this role also included the position of Acting Shepparton Aerodrome Manager.

National Fleet Support Manager (LPG)
Responsible for the successful replacement and upgrade of LPG delivery fleet assets, ensuring the effectiveness of maintenance programs and practices, and maintaining the reliability and serviceability of the fleet. This position also oversaw the timely roll out and implementation of new technology and equipment to enhance fleet safety through specific projects. Additionally, it ensured all new heavy vehicles and equipment were fit for purpose prior to delivery to the end user. The role also involved ensuring that fleet asset processes were followed to support consistent, timely, and accurate information flows in a multi-system environment.

Effectively managed the Origin LPG Victorian operations to ensure safe, ethical, and legal business conduct. Throughout his career he has always sought out positions of higher responsibility to provide him with more personal challenges and an opportunity to make a difference. John started in the dangerous goods industry as a driver, then progressed his career through more challenging roles such as Operations Manager, Logistics Manager, State Operations Manager and National Fleet Support Manager for a fleet of 340 trucks nationally.
John has successfully managed substantial budgets and assets, inclusive of drafting annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets. Sustainable fleet operations have always been a passion and John has built several truck cost operating models to analyse the efficiency of fleet operations and to determine cost effective operations. He has successfully implemented operational changes based on true data that have had a positive impact on business financial results.
Throughout his various roles he has managed large and diverse teams of employees as well as establishing good business relationships with 3PL service providers. His various roles have required establishing strong network relationships with contractors, suppliers and industry regulators. In addition to financial and operational management, John has project managed the implementation of various “industry best practise” technology into fleets, both at National and International levels”.

A Sales & Marketing professional with extensive experience in administration, accounting, retail management, and transport operations in the dangerous goods industry. Proven success in managing customer, asset, and staff integration through business acquisitions. Expertise in designing and implementing systems and processes to enhance safety, performance, profitability and operational excellence. As the Operations & Logistics GM I was responsible for the safe and profitable operations of a fleet of more than 50 trucks, 7 regional depots, a growing network of unmanned fuel outlets and the activities of the Victorian sales team.
With oversight of logistics, depot operations, sales, driver training and safety, I led operations during COVID-19 disruptions, ensuring continuity in workforce and operational availability. Led the improved the utilisation of key operating systems (MTData, Office Companion, Fuel Companion) and integrated Mass Management systems to safely maximise loaded weights, reduce fleet requirements and improve profitability. Negotiated a new EBA with the driver delegates and the Transport Workers Union, improving driver retention and attracting younger talent to the industry.
Bonney Energy Victoria Sales & Marketing Manager | Dec 2016 – Oct 2021
Managed the Victorian sales team and key growth opportunities across Victoria and NSW. Led the successful transition of customers, assets and staff resulting from acquisition of the Victorian business from Caltex Energy.
Responsible for safe operation and performance of nine Caltex branded retail stores in regional Victoria, a combination of company operated and agency sites.
Grew and oversaw the successful operation of 18 unmanned commercial fuel outlets and operation of a newly constructed Caltex site in regional Victoria. Successfully secured the tender for development of a new unmanned refuelling facility in Minyip and secured the sub-lease of a major Caltex branded commercial diesel facility in the heart of the Melbourne industrial precinct.
